St Julian's

St Julian's holds one of the more visually jarring contrasts in this atlas: the nineteenth-century Dragonara Palace, built for the banking Marquis Giorgio Scicluna and converted into a casino in 1964, sits on a rocky seafront point directly amid the high-rise hotels, bars, and clubs of Paceville, Malta's densest modern nightlife district.

Malta's dual role as a Mediterranean sun-and-sea holiday destination and a major regulated gaming and iGaming hub means the casino draws a genuinely international, largely tourist-driven clientele, quite different from the more local, provincial character of some of the smaller continental spa-town houses in this guide.

Practical Note

St Julian's and Paceville are about 20 minutes from Valletta by taxi or bus; the Dragonara promontory itself sits a short walk from the main resort strip.
